When a 1983 US tariff hit imported bikes over 700 cc, Honda sold the CB700SC Nighthawk S in America and kept a 750 version for markets such as Canada and Europe. The S was a sportier, shaft-driven Nighthawk with a rubber-mounted 16-valve four with hydraulic valve adjustment, related to the CBX750.
